Ripped Paper
2022
Videography by Kevin Noonan

This is a two-minute excerpt of a more-than-20-minute performance in which I ripped large sheets of paper until they were no more than a pile of shreds. The original purpose of this work was to explore the sound and motion of ripping paper, but it became a better reflection of the futility of labor and the notion of progress for the sake of progress.

This edit shows the first and last minute of the piece. It demonstrates how I become increasingly focused on reaching completion over the course of the performance, but to what end?
