This work was an attempt to push beyond the confines of the book structure, in order to create a truly larger-than-life-sized encounter with paper that could bring the viewer to connect with their physicality. It measures 12 feet wide by 8 feet tall. It is the result of my highly physical improvisation with found and hand-dyed papers, repeatedly ripped and collaged to create a textural experience for the viewer. This "painting" was later paired in an installation with the recorded sounds of hands turning book pages, layered to sound like the ocean.
